Dr Hollisa Alewine – Footsteps of Messiah Part 37 – (Shoftim-Shaking Principalities and Powers Part 1)

Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. (Ep 6:11-13)

How did Jacob “win” the wrestling match with the angel? They weren’t exactly doing jiu jitsu all night! Paul’s letter to the Ephesians describes how righteous human beings fight situations that appear to be beyond their ability or control: stand fully and confidently in your salvation.

In the passage of beautiful blessings uttered by the sorcerer Balaam, we have another clue as to how Israel overcomes and appears: “How lovely are your tents, O Jacob, your tabernacles, Israel…”

In this same passage, “For there is no divination in Jacob” (Nu 23:23) is followed by the verse: “Behold! The people will arise like a lion cub and raise itself like a lion; it will not lie down until it consumes its prey and drinks the blood of the slain.”

The ultimate battle of the ages is won by warriors who are not using “divination” for the fight. When they operate in their appointed realm and calling, when they “stand,” they fight like lions!

Mark Call – Parsha “Shoftim” teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

The Torah parsha reading for this week is "Shoftim" (Deuteronomy 16:18-21:9) -- and it begins, "Judges [shoftim] and officers you shall make in all your gates..." ...which, if you thing about it, tells us right off the top why we've gone so far "off the rails." But...

Mark Call – Parsha “Re’eh” teaching from Shabbat Shalom Mesa

Parsha "Re'eh," (Deuteronomy 11:26-16:17) may just be THE "go-to" Torah portion for those that have friends or relatives that ask questions like, "Just what is it that's DIFFERENT about a First Century understanding of 'the Messiah,' or "the Way," or maybe "Hebrew...

Torah Teachers’ Round Table – Tanakh Edition – Ezekiel ch 6 into 7

The study of the Book of Ezekiel continues through chapter 6 and into chapter 7. Much like the Book of Exodus, a continuing theme is "then you shall KNOW," ki ani YHVH. No, not that 'my name is the Lord," but His Real Name. And given that idolatry is also a major...

Dr Hollisa Alewine – Footsteps of Messiah Part 36 – (Ekev: Something Old, Something New)

This week is the Torah portion Ekev, which is extensive, yet simplifies our walk with Yeshua. Want your enemies to flee? Just do this, the simple words from the Ancient of Days:

“Lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.” (Dt 11:18-21)
