Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship for a two-part study of parsha “Ekev,” (Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25) and ultimately, a look at “love” – what it was, what passes for it now, and why the difference is even more than just a matter of ‘life and death’.

This one, too, includes more than one vitally-important command, which also turns out to be an undeniable ‘proof text’ for why so many of us who seek to “come out of” the whore church (or synagogue!) and return to ‘the Way’ want nothing to do with pagan, well, er, ‘crap’. Because He doesn’t just merely ‘hate’ it…

First, the Erev Shabbat reading and outline:

The Sabbath teaching is addresses what certainly SEEM like a lot of contradictions. Between ‘judaism’ and ‘xtianity’…between “love” and “law”…

and what was supposed to be, and what instead IS.

There are warnings in this parsha that must not be overlooked, but have. The word ‘ekev’ is often translated into English as ‘because’. And Mark suggests that ‘because’ that is so true, much that is is now obvious followed. But there’s far more in here. Like the use of the word “AND” to describe His Covenant AND his chesed – “loving-kindness.”

And THAT, as it turns out, makes all the difference!
