In the last teaching, Rabbi Steve Berkson showed us the man called Avraham (or Abraham) who was chosen by Yahweh to enter into a covenant which included certain admonishments and promises. In this lesson we will see this covenant handed down to Avraham’s children, Isaac and Jacob (Genesis 22); and ultimately to all who join themselves to the Creator of all, through Messiah Yeshua, then becoming seed of Avraham.
Then Rabbi Steve jumps ahead to where Joseph brings his sons, Ephrayim and Manasseh, to his father Israel for the blessing of the patriarch of the family. Israel then adopts the two youths as his own, bringing them directly into the covenant that has been handed down through the family. We will begin to learn the meaning of the concept of ‘breaking forth’ and ‘filling the earth’. Then, from that, making the connection to the apostle Paul’s writings to the Romans as he tells them how hardness in part has affected the Jews until the ‘fulness of the Gentiles’ has been completed. (Romans 11:25)
Rabbi Steve helps us to see how the whole Word of God is wonderfully connected.
Topics covered in this teaching:
– Why wasn’t the right/privilege of the first-born always given to the physical first-born?
– What is the “inheritance” that was given to the first-born?
– What is really meant by “The sceptre shall not turn aside from Yehud?ah, nor an Inscriber from between his feet, until Shiloh comes, and to Him is the obedience of peoples.”?
