Parsha “Ekev,” (Devarim or Deuteronomy 7:12 – 11:25) continues the theme of obedience to YHVH, beginning with a promise, that BECAUSE (ekev) you hearken (hear and obey) to these ‘mishpatim’ (ordinance) and keep them and DO them…then…
And it is central to His Instruction (torah) for us, which has not changed.
The Erev Shabbat reading not only makes what that means clear, but should “raise some eyebrows” as well. Because we’ve been lied to about what that means.
In the Sabbath day midrash, Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa makes the case that there is FAR more to the instruction here than many of us have been led to believe. Last week, we were told bluntly that men were not to “add to” or “subtract from” His Word; they have made whole religions out of it instead.
This time we take a look at the consequences.
And what He says to do about it.
WARNING: When Scripture uses Strong Language, we do Him a dis-service to soft-pedal that Truth. Mark does not.
