Jackson Snyder Presents Andrew P. Carlson’s demonstration that the Dead Sea Scrolls’ “Rules” are practical guidelines for today’s religious communities. The Vero Essene Yahad holds that the Dead Sea Scrolls contain several documents that are intimately connected to the New Testament. The Qumran Community needed guidelines in how to live together in close proximity without strife or offense. Today we use these documents to help us set our modern rules for Yahad, and we find that the old is good. Carlson puts the Rules into a contemporary framework so that we in the here-and-now may also use this ancient wisdom for maintaining civility in our own relationships and religious acts. Part 1.
