Last weekend, one of the largest sunspots in modern memory fired off a series of solar flares directed at Earth, resulting in one of the largest geomagnetic storms in decades. But it wasn’t a catastrophe, just a warning.
That sunspot will reappear again in just a couple of weeks, as it rotates around from the back of the sun.
All of which raises some interesting questions. Could there be a repeat, or worse? And, either way, how would most Americans know what REALLY happened if massive communications or power grid failures ‘coincidentally’ happened about that same time?
Host Mark Call suggests that there is a lot we can be prepared to understand, and discern, if we are able to think through a number of plausible scenarios and tactics that we might see in times to come.
