Charlotte Mecklenburg grew up in Tacoma, Washington and after high school she graduated from New Hope College in Oregon with a BSS degree. She also attended University of Washington as well as the University of Oklahoma for linguistic studies. She and her husband, Frank, lived in Papua New Guinea with the Faiwol people. While they were there they wrote down the Faiwol language, studied the grammar and phonemic system. An alphabet was established and primers were made. Following this, small village classes for adult readers were set up to teach people how to read. Frank and Charlotte as a team translated traditional stories, government information for the people and also the book of Genesis and the New Testament for the people. At the present time the government is using these materials in their schools for the Faiwol children. Charlotte has been trained in checking and approving translations for publication. Since then Charlotte has been studying Hebrew and its culture more extensively with the hope of seeing languages that have New Testaments also have the Tanakh (Old Testament). She authored her first book, The Potter’s Beloved, in 2008. She has been visiting Israel with her husband most years since 2002. She has completed a number of studies and papers.
