Going Up to Zion

Where is the New Covenant written? In Jeremiah 31! There are many surprising things in that New Covenant chapter, such as this promise:

For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the Lord our God. For thus saith the Lord; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O Lord, save thy people, the remnant of Israel. . . Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock. (Jeremiah 31:6-7, 10 KJV)

In reading this, one might get the impression that “New Covenant Believers” are people who look for Israel’s complete restoration.

Actually, that’s the truth! Jews have looked for the restoration of Israel for centuries, and the world has been amazed in the last 70 years to see that promise come into focus through the rebirth of the nation of Israel. Christians have looked for the restoration as well, but it is only in recent years that many have come to understand that they also are part of this covenant nation whom the Lord is regathering to become one people once again under Messiah Son of David.

So what happens when a group of people get so excited about this message that they form a congregation to proclaim this gospel of the Kingdom? That’s why we have asked Craig and Jan O’Dell to join us! In 2006, they joined with several others to establish Gates to Zion Ministries (http://gatestozion.net/), a Hebraic Roots fellowship meeting in West Columbia, South Carolina.

The O’Dells have much to share with us about the joys and challenges of serving a congregation focused on Israel’s Messiah and the restoration of His kingdom. One of those joys is going to Israel to meet and interact with the people and pray through the Land. Having just returned from such a trip, they bring a good report that you will be blessed to hear!
