Counting the Omer & Women in the Body of Messiah
In the first hour, Dr. Deb Wiley and I (Kisha Gallagher) shared our Pesach/Passover experiences and discussed the spiritual beauty of what it means to “count” in Hebrew in the context of counting the Omer up to Shavuot, and the Revelation at Mt. Sinai. What do sefer (book), saphar (count), mispar (number), and sappeer (sapphire) have in common? And, how do they relate to the season of counting the Omer, the second month (Iyar/Ziv), and Shavuot (Pentecost)? Listen to find out!
In the second hour, we explored the role and function of some Biblical women, starting with the first word of the risen Messiah, “woman,” as He spoke to Miriam (Mary). Is there a precedent in the Torah for a woman or women being connected to the imagery of being born again and resurrecting as it is symbolized by the waters of baptism? Where are waters first mentioned in the Bible? What is a neviah (prophetess)? What about Paul’s words on women? We ping-ponged around the Scripture as one hour is hardly enough for this topic, but hopefully we gave a good overview for those seeking Abba in this area.
